How you can serve others
We know from experience that helping others is a great blessing. As we grow together in our understanding of God, our hearts begin to break more and more for those who need help. We believe God is calling MCC to be a part of great things in the East Mountains, New Mexico and the world. We see Him transforming those He puts in our paths with whom we can share the gospel and, at the same time, transforming us. We have many on-going service opportunities listed here. See our Ministry Pages for even more opportunites to serve.
Opportunities to Serve
Operation Christmas Child with Samaritan's Purse: MCC will have Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes available beginning October 22nd with our final collection day on November 5th! On November 5th all the boxes will be collected and taken to an official processing center in Albuquerque. Click here to learn more about the program or to get information on how to pack your shoebox. These shoe boxes, filled with gifts to bless boys and girls in need around the world also serve to introduce them to Jesus Christ! It is a great time to start gathering items to bless children around the world! Contact Pamela Oliva for more information.
The Food Pantry: The Food Pantry at MCC is a place where people come for food in hard times while building relationships and feeding the soul. Hearts can be transformed as volunteers pray with and for those in need. We are reorganizing the church food pantry and need donations for restocking! Please leave donations in bags on the “Donations” shelves of the food pantry downstairs. We can’t accept anything that has been opened or is past the “Best Buy” date.
Items needed: pasta sauce, tomato sauce and canned tomatoes, oatmeal and other cereals, small cans of coffee and coffee creamer, juices, rice, dried beans (NOT pintos), peanut butter, jelly/jam, soup, boxed or canned meals or side dishes, boxed milk and non-dairy milk (soy, almond, etc.), granola bars.

Shine Club: There are so many opportunities to serve within Shine at A. Montoya Elementary School in Tijeras! Serve with the Mobile Food Pantry the fourth Thursday of every month, serve teachers and staff by reaching out to them during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 1th-5th), help in Kindergarten P.E. class, volunteer or tutor in classrooms, the list goes on and on! Visit the Shine Page for a complete list of opportunites! Some volunteer positions do require background checks. Contact Ashley Procter for more information.
Connectors: Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality. (Romans 12:13 ) The Connectors Ministry is a group of individuals seeking to be intentional in practicing hospitality. We seek the stranger in our midst in order to extend the love and grace of Christ, welcome them into our community, and shepherd them in finding opportunities to connect, grow, and serve with others. Whether gifted as an extrovert or not, we are all called to be constant in our hospitality and to love the stranger who sojourns with us. Will you join us in coming alongside those the Lord would bring to us as guests and offer friendship, encouragement, and support? We warmly invite you to join us! Contact Hal and Kristine Radloff for more information.
Farmer's Market Team Member: The Cedar Crest Farmer's Market is a seasonal market supporting local farmers and small growers located in the East Mountains. The market is held in the MCC parking lot and runs from June through October and generally hosts about 22 vendors selling locally grown produce, food and bakery products and crafts. MCC needs four to five volunteers willing to show up from 3:00 - 6:00 pm Wednesday afternoons during the season to serve as representatives of the church. Ideally, we need members who enjoy meeting people, can show a real interest in what the vendors are offering for sale, and who want to build personal relationships while sharing the gospel. Contact Tom O'Brien for more information about this opportunity.
Sunday Morning Fellowship Preparation: Every Sunday morning between services, our congregation gathers for fellowship and goodies downstairs. The food is brought by church members and set out by our Sunday morning fellowship volunteers. If you are interested in assisting with this ministry contact Christine Leggett for more information.
